Parents and Caregivers
forming proactive partnerships

uality child care programs form proactive partnerships with working families that enhance and support positive parenting.
Child care providers are an ideal network through which supportive services can be delivered to families because of the frequency with which families come into contact with their child care providers and the personal trusting relationships built there.1
Examples of successful family support found in quality child care programs:
  • Parents connect with other parents to provide mutual social and emotional support
  • Parents are provided support to identify and address issues in their own lives;
  • Parents gain access to information about community resources;
  • Parents learn about developmental stages of children's growth;
  • Caregivers learn about children's needs from parents;
  • Caregivers identify family strengths; and
  • Caregivers work to support mothers and fathers in their parenting.2

Quality child care promotes and supports family resources by enhancing, not replacing, family responsibilities.
