The Yes, You Can Program takes the mystery out of caring for infants and toddlers with special needs. Designed specifically for child care providers, this nine hour session helps providers define and gain an understanding of the various types and degrees of disabilities. Common fears and myths about inclusion are discussed along with tips for resolving bias.

Basic Care Topics include:

• Understanding the laws (ADA) that impact a child care business
• Common disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, Visual and Auditory impairments, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Seizures.
• Simple adaptations for a child
• Resources available to providers if they suspect a child has a disability

Working with Families Topics Include:

• Creating and Maintaining partnerships
• Telling the families of other children in your care
• How to work with families in a team approach

Combining theory with the real world, the Yes You Can instructors bring their experience in both the child care and the special needs communities together. In addition to class time, mentor support is available to child care providers who enroll an infant or toddler with special needs. Guest speakers include parents and others who bring "real world" experiences to the classroom.

All training sessions are held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the Red Rocks Community College Campus.
